Project 14375 completed 2003: The client is the training unit of a NSW government department. Following certification against the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) the unit sought assistance with training its own staff to conduct internal audits to satisfy this and other compliance needs, including QA. Realisation tailored a course suitable for practical application in the unit, and provided training to 6 staff in a face to face environment.

Project 14327 completed 2003: A small software company developing expert systems for the insurance and finance industry identified that they needed to comply with ISO9000 in order to support growth: both in terms of helping to absorb new staff, and also in terms of additional sales to Government clients. We analysed the processes of the company, identified staff roadblocks to their compliance, correlated their processes with the requirements of ISO9000, and delivered a complete road map which showed exactly what documents they had to produce, what training they needed to put into place, and what they had to do each month to reach their goal.

Project 14326 completed 2003: The client is a well-regarded provider of education services to the professional community, and is currently planning to expand its services to other States of Australia and to NZ. The client has undertaken major planning activities for the proposed expansion, but the planning documents prepared by other consultants proved to be too technical or complex for its Board members to readily comprehend. Realisation was asked to assist the client to confirm the planning undertaken to develop educational content for different markets, and to describe and summarise this material for presentation to the Board.

Project 14320 completed 2004: A national company, responsible for the maintenance of utility supply lines, had been audited for ISO9000 certification and the audit had identified numerous problems with the documents in their document management system, which itself was to be replaced. Realisation prepared a plan to address the issues raised by auditors, including problems with duplication, making the system more user-friendly and improving the profile of the system.

Project 14290 completed 2003: Our client had a requirement to comply with both local GMP requirements and US FDA requirements for operational support in an IT area. We led a workshop to identify the documentation and compliance needs for their area.

Project 14288 completed 2003: A NSW Government agency had been audited and several discrepancies had been identified in their financial transactions. The agency approached Realisation who performed a comprehensive review of the agency's procedural documentation. This review revealed that little of the department's operational procedures had been documented and the documentation which did exist was in need of revision. The review also revealed that there was no coherent system of document management or control. Realisation planned and implemented a project which documented all the department's policy and procedures and instituted a regime of document control which enabled the new documentation to be effectively maintained.

Project 14213 completed 2003: The client is a health care provider of diagnosis and treatment for sufferers of serious illness. Realisation worked with the client to assist it to upgrade its operational and policy structures. Specifically, we - reviewed their current processes to determine what needs to be done to comply with Quality System Standard ISO 9001:2000, the Privacy Act and the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) - created a system of documentation to address these compliance needs, and - trained staff how to maintain and manage the systems set up.

Project 14204 completed 2003: A State Government department was faced with the need to comply with Information Security Standards in accordance with the requirments of the Office for Information Technology (OIT). They were aware of their lack of documentation and approached Realisation to conduct a documentation gap analysis and plan for the development of Information Security Policies and Procedures, including Business Continuity Management and Disater Recovery Plans. The analysis was completed and the work planned. This documentation will provide the client with a powerful set of security documentation to guide their compliance activities.

Project 14178 completed 2003: A state government department had a requirement for documentation to comply with system security standards and a disaster recovery plan for their headquarters and regional offices. Realisation planned and implemented a document set to meet those needs.

Project 14153 completed 2003: A national manufacturer asked us to review the methods and styles used for delivering model procedures for environmental management to their plants and ways in which individual sites could be encouraged to develop local procedures and documentation. The documentation was required to support both internal environmental standards and external auditing by bodies such as the EPA. We provided a proposal for producing templates for the known model procedures that would make it much easier and quicker for site environmental officers to customise procedures and build a library of essential documents. The templates included a style sheet, boilerplate text, and prompts for customisation. We additionally proposed a scheme for identifying the training needs from each area and collating them so the organisation could more easily monitor compliance training of staff in various roles at the plants.

Project 14136 completed 2003: The client is Australia's largest charitable organisation, and has a leading role in the field of caring for the aged, disabled, homeless, migrant and refugee groups, and the care of persons in their homes. The client has asked Realisation to analyse the way in which it disseminates process-related information to its volunteers, members and staff, and to check whether current processes: - are focussed accurately on its requirements - are supported by input in the form of agreed, consistent, and documented procedures suitable to support compliance and operational needs - address its need to comply with the Privacy Act and with other legislative imperatives. Our analysis considered how to best integrate suggested compliance strategies with existing practices, so as to maximise benefit and minimise bureaucracy. The analysis included: - core elements to comply with the National Privacy Principles - identification of how these compliance requirements should be structured to integrate and co-ordinate with existing activities - other issues which might be relevant, including organisational, structural, management and cultural issues - documentation required for compliance and other operational needs - staffing structures, personnel and training issues affecting compliance, including definition of the roles and responsibilities of personnel and recommendations on training - implementation strategies, including timeframes and costs We also identified a significant number of opportunities to improve operating efficiencies and to ensure that its people are well-informed about the organisation's needs. This analysis provided a planned approach to deliver: - comprehensive and easy to use manuals covering nominated key areas of the client's operations - a consistent look and feel to all performance support information, which will allow staff members and volunteers to adapt easily to working in different areas - online versions of the manuals that are easy to navigate, search, and read

Project 14135 completed 2002: A biotechnology company marketing a suite of laboratory reseach instrumentation approached Realisation to assist them in developing validation documentation to satisfy the requirements of the FDA in the USA.

Project 14127 completed 2003: A State Government department was faced with the need to comply with Information Security Standards. They were aware of their lack of documentation and approached Realisation to conduct a documentation gap analysis and plan for the development of Information Security Policies and Procedures. The plan was completed, accepted and implemented. Realisation developed the documentation on budget and on schedule. This documentation provided the client with a powerful set of security documentation to guide their compliance activities.

Project 14106 completed 2003: The Learning and Development Unit of a NSW government department is a Registered Training Organisation ('RTO'), and during an external audit of its RTO status, the findings were that it was compliant with the (then current) ARF Standard. The Unit had limited documentation for its activities, including a Code of Practice and some high level policy documents. These paper documents were out of date in some cases and were not always accurate statements of its current activities or processes. The Unit asked Realisation to analyse whether its policies and procedures comply with the new AQTF Standard against which all RTOs are assessed after 1 July 2002. In addition, it asked Realisation to analyse the degree to which its policies and procedures comply with the requirements of ISO9001:2000, and to make recommendations about gaps in QA compliance and how they should be addressed. This is to effectively support efficient operation and control of the future development and expansion of the Unit's activities. The project recommendations were intended to: - ensure that the Unit continued to qualify as a Registered Training Organisation by complying with the new Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) Standard - use the Quality System standard ISO 9001:2000 as a checklist to ensure that it has addressed all quality related issues in the right way. Realisation's analysis included recommending an overall structure for the Unit's reference documentation, and we made observations and recommendations for handling ISO 9001 and AQTF issues. We helped the Unit implement its new compliance management systems by: - Developing and documenting the required processes and activities - Assigning responsibility for the processes in terms of authorship, management and authorisation - Working with and training the new 'Management Systems Coordinator' to ensure that they keep the compliance system working and maintained and monitor quality and AQTF issues - Providing training for staff in the general principles of AQTF compliance, quality management, and key specific processes within the Unit

Project 14101 completed 2002: A specialist heath care Institute asked us to do a complete review of their documented management systems to assess their effectiveness and check for compliance with the Privacy Act and ISO 9000. We completed a detailed report and, along with specific recommendations for improvement, we specified how best to deliver this knowledge via their intranet.

Project 14025 completed 2002: The amendments to the Federal Privacy Act had a major impact on this client, which is a non-profit organisation providing education services for children with hearing and/or vision impairments. The data collection performed by the organisation, both for service provision and fundraising, meant that all of their activities had a potential risk of failing to comply with the privacy rules. The organisation asked Realisation to review its activities against the privacy legislation, and determine the actions needed to address the new requirements. We completed the gap analysis, and then wrote documentation to provide privacy guidelines for all staff. We also provided a structure for ongoing documentation and compliance management.

Project 12950 completed 2002: Developed a plan for the implementation of ISO9001 at the IT division on a large civil works contracting company. The division had three major arms: e-business, SAP implementation and change/problem management.
